Simon Cooper (he/him) is a sociology and demography PhD student from Nashville, TN. His research interests include labor and the future of work, poverty alleviation, gender and sexuality, and law and society. Before coming to Berkeley, he completed an MPhil in sociology and demography at Oxford, worked on the labor markets team at J-PAL at MIT, and completed a BA in global affairs at Yale. At Oxford, his dissertation examining enduring economic disadvantage among LGB people received the A.H. Halsey Prize. At Berkeley, he is supported by an NICHD T32 Training Grant.
